just had got given my brother in laws "old" gaming pc and I'm at a total loss of what I have. So it's intel core i7,dual geforce gtx 780 3gb, tx850 power supply. 4 PNY 8gb RAM and 1TB HD with an 256gb ssd. So the ssd has been cleared so I don't know what's not there anymore I'm hoping to use my hdtv for monitor but am overwhelmed at all the ports on the back side. I have been a macbook user so this desktop has me worried that I could do some damage to it. So please advise on basic setup and any other info on this monster.

I recommend using you tv's HDMI port and the computer's HDMI port. You will need to purchase a HDMI cable and then plug it in. Obviously you will need to reinstall windows on it and the drivers and stuff like that. Here is a link to what an HDMI cable looks like and where it should plug in.
