New to gaming pc world need advice on pc platform

I have a hp 500-223w with an intel i3-4130 3.4ghz, 8gb of ram, 1tb hard drive, I was going to upgrade the GPU to a AMD Radeon r9 270x, I was wondering if this GPU is compatible with the computer and will this setup let me play modern game on high settings and get good fps

Is the GPU is compatible with the desktop and if desktop with the newer GPU is decent enough to allow for good fps

1. What is the make and model of your PSU? If it's not 80+ certified, dispose of it. Buy one that is 80+ bronze or higher certified and is made from someone like Corsair, Antec, Seasonic, EVGA, or someone like that.

2. It is compatible, but I'd seriously invest in a better PSU since it seems like you're using a prebuilt (Am I right about this?).

Yes that is the case I was considering upgrading the power supply to a corsair 500w, but since I was only upgrading the GPU I didn't think it would be a problem

500W corsair should be perfectly adequate. Overloading the PSU can cause all of your other components to fail spectacularly which is something you don't want (obviously :?)
