new to overclocking CPU AND GPU

Hi Guys,

Totally new to overclocking. below is my rig. And required to overclock CPU and GPU.
Few question.
Does the Bios require special settings?
Will be using MSI afterburner, what is a recommend stable setting?

CPU: i7-6700K
GPU: GTX 1080
Motherboard: gigabyte z170m-d3h
RAM: G skill ripjaws 2 x 8GB 2400mhz
Cooling: Watercooling Loop
PSU: seasonic 620w
OS:Windows 8.1

No, it doesn't require a special bios or anything like that. On msi afterburner, increase the power limit to max value and increase 50 mhz at time until it becomes unstable for the gpu.

It's pretty simple for gpus. Increase power limit to max amount and increase core clock until it's becomes unstable. Repeat the same process for memory clock.

For cpus, it can get more complicated. You generally don't want to use more 1.3v as voltage to avoid frying your chip. Slowing increase frequency until you can't run prime95 for any extended time with a crash (not the only stress test that exist but my personal favorite for cpus).

No, it doesn't.

Well if by "special bios setup" he means changing the settings in the bios, then yes it does require modifying many things into your bios to have a good CPU overclock.
