Hi all.
I'm fairly new to o/cing. I know a little (the basics).
I've got my CPU running at 2115, all else is stock speed. I am getting a 3d Mark '05 score of 2525, which looking at other threads, is quite poor.

The million $ question is, where do I begin to raise the 2525 score?

(Look at my sig for PC spec).

Any help appriciated.

Andy

3dMark05 is fairly dependent on video card performance....even the "cpu" portion is influenced by the video card, as a friend upgrading from a 6600GT to a 7800GT said he gained about 600 points in his cpu benchmark even though nothing else had changed in his rig...

The 9800Pro was indeed a good card for it's day (I used a 9700 Pro AIW for two years), but the newer 6600GT and 6800GS cards will unfortunately decimate it in delivered gaming framerates...

If you look around on ORB for people with the same video card, you'll find that the score you've attained is just about par for a 9800pro. Your video card is definitely limiting the score there, as your other components are up to snuff.

When I had my A64 running at stock 3000+ speeds, I would get a score of 6323 with an x850XT PE. I would expect you to achieve similar results with the same card.

Video cards handle the majority of the work required by 3D games, and are subsequently the component that matters most.
