Hey guys! So I will be building a new PC, for the most. Replacing everything except the case and the power supply. My question is, how do I properly install windows on the SSD and not the HD? Just in case my SSD is : SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB SATA III and my HD is: SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB SATA III. I have looked at other threads/websites and they say install in on the HD then unplug the HD and then install it to the SSD. And of course change the boot up option in the BIOS.

Another question I have about this is when i plug my HD back in wont I now have 2 version of windows? 1 on the SSD and 1 on the HD? I am kind of new to this and it is kind of confusing me....only the second time I have built a PC and I am not very tech savy..

Solution
The right way to do it is:

Only have the main drive in the machine (hooked up) and install Windows.

After all that is done then plug in the other drive and format it.
I’m going to assume your SSD has a smaller amount of storage than the hdd, the storage drives are brand new and that you need to install windows? If so, during the setup process, it will eventually ask you which drive to install it on. Just choose the one with less storage available. Pretty easy

install on the ssd then boot system and made sure in bios that is the first boot device then shut system out had the hdd as secondary drive and format it to remove the os from it to use this one as storage for games and others keeping the os on the ssd .

Ok thank you 😀
