I have never had a SSD. How do I go about using one? I already have windows and everything on my current HD. Does it go in a slot like a HDD would go in? I’m new to this.

It's basically like a normal HDD but smaller (unless you happen to have laptop with 2.5" inch HDD) and much faster as it uses new technology (called NAND Flash) but you need to make sure that your SATA controller supports SATA III 6Gb/s and that can give about 550MB/s read/write.

Yes, it's backward compatible. Meaning it'll work even with SATA II 3Gb/s and will be faster than your HDD but not fast as with SATA III. Now to know whether your controller supports SATA III, simply download a tool called HWINFO64 and under Motherboard for something like that

or under Bus for something like that.
