New to unreal

Ok, I got UT2004 last week and I love it but I've most done the single
player campaign because I get whacked quick online.

I'm wondering about all these mods, voice packs, new maps, etc, etc I keep
seeing on the websites. Is there somewhere that will explain to me what
they are, how to use them, and how to install them? I know what a mod is in
general from other games just not specific to unreal.

Also any suggestion on must have mods and maps?

www.planetunreal.com is probably the best place to get the 411 on mods.
They'll have quite a few links to some of the best mods out there for UT,
2k3, and 2k4. As far as maps, I only use www.nalicity.com They have a
large selection of maps for everything.

As far as must haves for UT2004... the only thing I can think of is the
Windows XP map pack. I believe you have to be using Win XP to use the
maps... me wonders why.
