Heheh, I'm holding out for 939, too. I hope they keep it as long as they did SocketA. Socket A was the best damn thing for people who want to start cheap and upgrade later. The eternal socket, god bless AMD for making it and not switching to something new every 8 months (Ala Intel). I hope their handling of sockets with the 64 bit chips so far has been a hiccup.
Let's see how long this overclocked 2400+ will last me. The alpha versions of the next-gen games seem to run fine on my rig, so I'm not worried. I've certainly gotten my money's worth from this old K7S5A motherboard...
I did buy a 9700 PRO (Well, a FireGL X1 actually, same thing) because I found it for stupid-cheap on ebay though. That'll help the gaming performance a bit when she arrives...
