Hi all, bit confused here.

I recently went out and purchased a geforce gtx 760 CU II OC 2GB on the advice of members of this forum as well as a new 600w power supply for the card. I installed everything to the best of my ability and it seemed to be good but when I booted up the pc it is still running off the motherboard's built in graphics and when I look at display adapters it just says video controller as opposed to the card name as it did when I had my old video card. I'm not sure what I might have done incorrectly that my pc wouldn't recognize the card? I'm going to open up the box and try to reinstall the card but I don't think that's the issue? I installed the drivers from the cd as well.

Did you attach the monitor to the graphics card?

Actually, if you are attached to the motherboard you're using the iGPU only not the new card. If you're attached to the graphics card you are definitely using the new card.

If that works make sure you got the NVidia drivers direct from NVidia.

Also, download the 3DMark2001se benchmark and run that. I have a slightly better graphics card and I got 66,000 so you should get at least 50,000 depending on your CPU.

I have my screen connected through a vga adapter not HDMI but when I had the previous card and it was disabled due to malfunctioning I was also connected through the card and it ran exactly the same. The graphics look exactly as they did after my previous card failed, just the onboard card and I used the drivers from the cd it came with :/ I tried re-seating the card to no avail. When I boot up the pc the card lights up where the power is connected but it is definitely not using the card because I still can't run any graphics intense programs and even the little previews of windows tabs do not show up. 🙁 Quite upset because the card wasn't cheap and I was excited to see it in action but now I'm worried it isn't going to work :/

Reading through some other posts with similar topics I installed the geforce experience and it seems to think there's a good enough reason to download a new driver... I'll see if this works and update.

God bless simple solutions... Looks like the drivers were not really installed despite the cd saying it was installing them.. no idea why.. don't care, everything looks crisp and clear and the gpu tweak started up, the card is listed in my devices and I am happy as a fat kid with a cupcake :).
