New W7 CD but no Laptop/PC to install on can I swap W7 Product Key for New W10 Product Key

The problem I have is:

I have an unused/unactivated CD with product key for windows 7 64 bit

I have no laptop or PC to load it on to so cannot get Windows 10 the normal way

Is there a way to swap the product key for a new Windows 10 product key without installing it onto a device or do I have to install the Windows 7 CD, activate it and upgrade to Windows 10.

if it wasn't 5 days before the end of the free update period, I would answer your question by saying you could download the windows 10 media creation tool, install win 10 and use the win 7 key to activate it but I don't know if that will work after July 29th.

Until next month its really hard to say what the case will be. People had one year to do something about it.

It will work until July 29th, there will be no extension after that date. Has to be same version of W10 as W7 is, ie. Pro/Ultimate, Home language etc.
