I currently have a WD Blue 500 GB drive (WD5000AAKX) which is 6Gb/s on WD site. But when I tried transfering files from my D drive to my C drive the speed was only about 40MB/s. I'm using the MSI H81M-P33 motherboard with the SATA cable that came with it which should be fast (SATA II or SATA III).

Also, the boot time is very slow compared to my old 160GB Seagate Barracuda 3Gb/s which is 4 seconds and mine is 8 seconds. The transfering speed of the old drive is also at 40MB/s too.

Thanks everyone :)

Hey there BeetlefeelNoob. I'm sorry to hear you're having such trouble with your drive. If you think that there might be something wrong with it, the first thing you should do - is to backup any important data which you might have on it. Then I'd recommend that you download DLG (Data Lifeguard Diagnostic) and run both tests (Quick and Extended) to see if there are any errors with the drive or bad sectors: Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows

Let me know how everything goes.

The WD is actually connected to a SATA 3 port with a SATA 6Gb/s cable, while the Seagate is connected to a SATA 2 port with properly a 3Gb/s cable. Also, I tried connecting it to all 4 ports on my motherboard but it won't help and now my boot speed is 11 seconds. Plz help.

On the MSI H81M-P33 motherboard only the SATA1 and SATA2 ports are 6Gb/s. The SATA3 and SATA4 ports are 3Gb/s.

Even if both HDDs were on the 3Gb/s ports it wouldn't be saturating the SATA controller.

The WD one is connected to the SATA1 (SATA III) port on my MSI. My DVD drive is connected to SATA2 (SATA III). And my Seagate is on another computer with an Asrock H61-VS3 (SATA II only).
Also, the saturating part confuses me. And apparently, the boot speed is now stucking at 11 seconds. Plz help

Everything seems to be fine with the drive itself according to the tests. I'd recommend that you try the drive with another computer to see if the same thing happens again or at least try it with a different SATA connection, because it might be a faulty cable.
If nothing seems to be working, then I'd suggest that you contact our customer support and explain the issue: Service & Support
