I bought a new WD40EZRZ from Amazon and I just connected it and it is getting an I/O error when I try to initialize it to GPT. Then I use disk part to clean which is successful, but when I try to convert to gpt it again gets an I/O error. I check the event viewer and it says "8007045D@02070008 failed write boot code during clean".

All the solutions I try to find come up with intializing to gpt, and this is what is giving me the error, so what is going on? The hard drive wasn't wrapped around the plastic bags of air, it was on the bottom of the delivery box so I'm thinking it got damaged because it wasn't packaged properly.

I'm running Windows 10 Pro.
