I have a MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO.,LTD 790XT-G45 (MS-7388) I need more SATA II storage for. I prefer WD, however am open to SG. I see there are a few issues with > 2TB drives and wonder if my MOBO is up to supporting > 2TB drives. Any feedback? Will my MOBO support WD30EZRX-RTL http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8988947&CatId=4357

Follow-on question: is this a 2TB limit per partition or a 2TB entire drive limitation? This ( http://blogs.technet.com/b/askcore/archive/2010/02/18/understanding-the-2-tb-limit-in-windows-storage.aspx ) doesn't clarify the issue.

Solution
So I've received confirmation from the MSI customer support with the following message:
Thanks for contacting MSI technical support.

Regarding your concern,we are sorry that this MB support max to 2TB HDD. Please refer to the test report on our website. Thanks!

I'm sorry mate, looks like your new drive has to be 2TB or smaller. 🙁
Hey Shalmaneser. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything to support the theory that you can use larger drives than 2TB with this mobo. However there's a 3TB+ Infinity feature for the 790X-G45, but unfortunately I don't see this to be supported by the 790XT-G45 mobo, so if I were you, I'd probably not take the chance with a drive which has more than 2TB capacity.
It would be great if anyone has experience with this mobo in particular and can give you a definite answer.

Hope that helps.
