new Windows 8.1 PC blocks older Windows XP PC from internet connection

I put a new Windows 8.1 PC on my home internet connection, but now older Windows XP PC can not connect to the network. The XP connects fine if the 8.1 PC is not turned on, but if both are on then the XP can not connect to internet. Any suggestions?
