I've turned WLAN on and off. I've turned off power management. I've tried with and without 5G.

Sometimes it works really well and other times it fails to work entirely. It really does depend on how it's feeling that day.

No way to say for sure.

Check the event log and see if there are messages. A hardware type failure tends to producce log messages. If it is interference because your neighbors did a large file download not much you can really do about that other than maybe try a different radio channel.

As bill001g says, you may have channel interference. In the Windows Store there is a free wifi analyzer by Matt Hafner which will allow you to determine how many people are using each channel.
