new wireless usb adapter causing router to disconnect?

Recently I have begun using a new wireless usb adapter on a new computer that it came with. Occasionally when I open websites, it disconnects the connection and the router stops connecting to all of the devices it's connected with. It takes about couple minutes, then the internet would resume normal and reconnect itself. Can the usb adapter cause the router to drop all connections? This hasn't happened to my other computer in the same location using a different brand of usb adapter.

Update: I believe it was an issue with the service provider. It went away on couple of days and have not had an issue since...
