New Year's "Present" from Blizz?

OK - someone will doubtless tell me it's been there all the time, but
since when did LoD include respawning monsters?

Whilst spending a few quiet moments this morning levelling in
Nightmare Baal runs with a HC Meteor/FO Sorc (possibly a sad thing to
be doing on New Year's morning, but I was awake, sober and bored), I
ran into a pack of Dark Souls. Having dealt with them with a little
trepidation (my Lightning resist could do to be rather higher - one
reason she's still in NM), I was concentrating on the next
"challenge", when I was suddenly jumped from behind by a Dark Soul I'd
apparently missed. So, I dealt with that - only to be mugged by
another. Then another. Then two. And they just kept coming - every
time I wiped them out, another one or two would find me. I finally
realised that they were popping into existence in roughly the same
place in the corridor all the time - I stuck around in the game long
enough to watch half-a-dozen or so more appear, before deciding that,
given the resistance issue, an appropriate response was, "Sod that for
a game of soldiers".

Is this new? Or have I just been half-asleep for the last year or
two?

Cheers - Ian

Happy New Year anyway. 😀

And you always killed them in the same place, right?

Ehm, you're sure there weren't any Horadrim Ancients around in a
corner or somewhere in a sideway? They revive nearly all kinds of
undeads, incl. Souls and Oblivion Knights.

And to you, and all here.

Ah - possible. I hadn't thought of that. As hinted, I baled out of
the game before going much further - there could well have been one or
more within range.

I guess it's probably the luck of the shuffle - probability plays
strange tricks - but I'd almost swear I'm getting tougher opponents
today than I was yesterday, though.
