Hey all,

I just got a AIW 9800 Pro card.. Everything with the card is up and
working.. I have plugged in my cable line into the back of the card.. When I
open the TV program, and have it go through and auto-sense for channels it
comes up with 0 found under both cable and antenna.. I have tested the cable
and plugged it directly into my TV and it does show everything as being OK..
After I do the auto-sense, or even during it as I watch it try to sense, it
shows like there is a signal coming in, but it is all black and looks like
there is lots of signal distortion.. Like when you switch your tv to channel
4 or something when your connected to a cable box..

Is it possible there is a problem with the card? I am using the newest set
of drivers and everything from the ATI site..

If anyone has any suggestions to try without getting a new card, it would
really help..

Thanks in advance..

Computer specs,
ATI Radeon AIW 9800 Pro
AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Barton
Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum Pro
1GB Corsair DDR RAM
520W Vantec PSU

Are you hooked up through a digital cable box? Just wondering....

No, the cable is going directly in from the line, I don¹t have it connected
to my cable box or any other devices at this time. Direct cable line into
the port on the back of the card..

I have tried all inputs, and selections to get the thing to work. Always the
same result. Open TV, do the little walk through.. Get to the point to
choose Cable or Antenna, either one that I choose gets the same results.. Am
I missing another step in the setup or something?

You have installed the wdm capture drivers?
No conflicts (exclamations in device manager sound video game
controllers)
If any exclamations in ANY of the 6 ATI devices uninstall them all and
reboot
Upon reboot, load capture drivers, DONT REBOOT, RELOAD Display drivers,
REBOOT

Correct Installation order followed?
Capture drivers- NO REBOOT
Display drivers- Reboot

I'm totally ignorant about cable systems but don't some systems have a
decoder in the cable box? I'd run the line that goes _out_ from the
cable box and connects to your tv and run it into the AIW.

Thanks for all the help with this.. 2 hours of messing with things last
night, and I got everything working correctly.. I am really not sure what
caused it, or fixed it.. I had the newest drivers, and WDM was installed and
there were no issues with any of the devices in device manager. I removed
everything, rebooted, and re-installed the software that I got, which was
from a few months ago I am guessing, with MMC 8.5 on there.. After that was
installed, it found everything just fine. Then I upgraded to the newest
drivers and software, and its working perfectly.

Welcome to ATI's covert way of familiarizing you with the driver
installation scenarios ;P
