Hey everyone, I'm a young aspiring computer enthusiast with a passion for building pc's. I just wanted to inform everyone that I am very new to the pc building community and I'm very excited to get into building my first computer. Just for some background I did alot of research on my behalf so that I know well enough of what I'm getting myself into so don't worry much.

The reason I'm posting this is to get other computer enthusiasts to review my build that I'm planning to buy and start building for myself. I'd like some critism and suggestions as to how I could improve my build and my knowledge for computer building so please do comment.

My build is a gaming budget build of approx $2000 AUD. I live in Australia so I'm afraid the best I could save for my first build is $2000 and availability of computer components is not exactly... vast.

My build is as follows:

CPU - Intel Core I5-4690 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor LGA1150 Chip

MOBO - MSI Z97-Gaming 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

MEMORY - Kingston HyperX Fury Red 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory

STORAGE - Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

GPU - MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr 5 Video Card

CASE - NZXT H440 (Matte Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case

PSU - Corsair CSM 550W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply

MONITOR - BenQ RL2455HM 24.0" 60Hz Monitor

KEYBOARD - Corsair STRAFE Mechanical Gaming Keyboard CherryMX Red Keyboard

MOUSE - MSI Interceptor DS B1 Wired Optical Mouse

And that's about it! If you couldn't tell already I for some reason love MSI and the whole Red and Black theme of this build so I'd like to stay as close to those likes of mine as possible, but if required I don't mind being flexible. Here's the PC part picker link to my build: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/user/ZentryG/saved/VZd48d

Thankyou so much for your time and effort,
I'd really appreciate the help,
Zen.

Good choice of psu,imo that is.

For ram could you look at this, but is probably alot more in terms of money so might keep that in mind,

a just a little cheaper but an as good option as the Kingston,

for four dollars more would the 2133mhz be better though.
in the end is the extra speed and lower latency not going to matter that much, but it seems that (some) newer games try to take advantage of faster memory. At a under $100 pricetag (looking at the black version via the pcpartpicker) is the KIngston not a bad deal considering the extra dollars the G.Skill costs.

Okay sure but like I said my budget is quite compact and trying to buy the components is quite difficult for me. Thankyou for your suggestion though.

if you want to tighten your budget, then buy used keyboard/mouse at a garage sale, which will save you a lot of money. buy used products from amazon/ebay/craigslist to save 10% or more. buying stuff new is a luxury. good luck.

In Australia could you probably get the Antec HCG series for about the same price as the psu you chose now,a better choice imo and would be in color with the rest of the build.

Agree with what's said above, but maybe the newer parts are also more expensive.. ?

I also would try to get abit faster ram, like 2133mhz with lower cas, like cas9 if available. If a specific store could we look there, but the Australian pcpartpicker hardly gives prices anymore.

Thank you so much guys for your suggestions, I really appreciate it.

I'd prefer to have new computer accessories rather than buying it from garage sales, I can see where you are coming from but unfortunately my preferences can tend to overpower my choices, thankyou for your suggestion though bboiprfsr, surprisingly not many people tend to have gaming keyboards and mice in garage sales here compared to the fact of how many people in Australia have gaming beasts, so yeah, pretty unlucky.

Thank you Vic 40 for your suggesstion, and to answer your question, I have updated my PSU choice to the Antec HCG series thanks to your recommendation and the newer computer components here in Australia, are way more expensive than anywhere else unfortunately. Also I'll research a bit more on acquiring better ram if possible and see if any stores here can supply me with 2133mhz ram. Thank you again for your help, very much appreciated.

Looked at the cpu and saw the non "K"option, not wanting to overclock? Not that it's absolutely necessary, just maybe something for the future when it might get interesting to keep the syetm a little longer by squeezing some extra speed out of that cpu if buying a "K"variant.
Don't know what you pay for the i5 4690,but if i look via the pcpartpicker is the i5 6600K not that much more in terms of price.

needs different motherboard+ram too of course.
