Hi folks,

A friend of mine recently decided she needed a new machine since hers is on it's last leg. I've build every machine I've ever had since the 90ies, however, I only need to build one every 3-5 years, and so I am somewhat of a novice.

She needs to keep it cheap, around the $350 mark. Her primary needs from the system are as an office machine (She's a writer and uses her machine frequently for work), but her daughter is also heavy in to Minecraft.

Since an office machine requirements are minimal I've checked out the recommended requirements for Minecraft and came up with this build. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you have on better gear for this price range, better places to buy to reduce cost, or thoughts on how well this hardware will play together.

Your input is greatly appreciated. Through newegg these components are currently coming in at around $450, and so I'd love more inexpensive alternatives.

The build is as follows:

Thanks again for checking this out!

Thanks Outlander,

Unfortunately I did not see a video card in your build, but I really appreciate you introducing me to pc part picker. That's a resource I was not aware of.

The AMD APU is processor and graphics built in to one chip

Graphics performance is far better than the card you had in your build , and cpu performance on par with the best intel dual cores . The pentium in your build would not compete.

No graphics card is needed

Awesome! I missed that. Thank you so much for your suggestions!
