Hi,
I just got SWG yesterday, and I have couple of delivery missions. My
problem is that I cannot understand where I am , even with ctrl/m map. My
radar is confusing also, even though I;ve read the manual. I cannot decipher
what town the mission person is in, I can't figure out directions such as
NW, etc. When I hit ctrl/D it brings mission up, but not enough info. Is
creator the person I am seeking out? I thought I was in Naboo, but it
appears I am in Corellia, in Doaba Guerfel. I feel that not enough
information is given out as to the name of the recipient , and location. Is
there a good site out there or some help? I am on starsider .
Thanks,
Linda

I think most of these Delivery missions have you either bringing something
to someone in another town, or out in the middle of nowhere. When you first
get the mission, it should be activated. When it's activated, you should
have a blue arrow on your screen. When you turn directions, it'll still be
pointing right where you need to go. When you have the arrow aligned
straight UP on you r screen, it pretty much means move forward. However this
might be quite a distance away. When you push Crtl V you will get a
Planetary map. Click the box 'show all waypoints'. Since it doesn't seem
like you would have any other ones at this point, the only thing you should
see is a pulsing blue triangle with a little arm that pinpoints your
destination. Go there and 'converse' with the character you see. Or tell us
which galaxy you're on, someone ought to be able to show you around.

The other post does a great job answering you question. The Ctrl+M maps is
used only for a small overhead view of the nearby area. Definately, look
for the blinking blue arrow (or yellow if a POI (Point Of Interest)) and use
your planet map Ctrl+V.

Occasionally (often doing quests), a waypoint can be off planet and Ctrl+V
will not help. In that case, look at the waypoints tab in Ctrl+D and make
sure you never 100% full in waypoints or news ones will not be added.

Thank you ,
I am about to log on again and try some more. I was not using the Ctrl-V
option at all I think. Also,
I have quite a lot of little arrows in my main screen. One is orange,
several are light blue , what are these? I can't find
that in the manual. Thanks again, I want to like this game lol.

Many of us have been playing since launch and we are STILL trying to like
this game. =)
What is your character name on Starsider? In game assistance usually works
best.

Hi,
My name is Ioce on Starsider. I did the ctrl-v map and found the beacon
for my mission. Only problem is that I don't have enought credits to take
shuttle and its' too far to walk without getting killed. How do you solve
this problem?
Thanks again,
Linda

You should probably just hit Crtl D, and click on your delivery missions and
cancel them. Go back to the mission terminal and get some "Destroy"
missions. They don't pay too much but are easy enough for a new player. You
can either pick the closest ones to wherever you are, or just get two in the
same general direction. You can do only a couple missions if you only need a
few bucks, but if you do missions like that for an hour or two you can end
up with a little money to get around, plus you'll get used to combat and
stuff.

I highly reccomend finding a Medic Trainer and picking up Novice medic. If
you buy medicine (make sure it says it requires only 5 points of medic skill
to use, othewise you can't use it) it's a great way to keep yourself alive
in the field. You can always give up the Medic profession later on when you
decide what you want to do, or keep building on it if you want to be a
really good medic. If you don't pick up Medic, you will just have to sit
around and wait for yourself to heal.

Man, this is a really tough game to describe to someone. It's much easier
sitting down at thier computer with them. =)

The orange is for missions (destroy only maybe?) and light-blue are
normal waypoints. There is also a dark blue arrow which indicates the
direction to your target (great for congested, hard to see battles while
looking for a group member who needs a heal).

A couple of quick suggestions: under the options (Cntrl-O) in the
'Miscellaneous' tab, make sure the 'Waypoint Monitor' is selected. That
will give you an onscreen representation of which direction to the
waypoint (the arrow) as well as the distance to it. That is a great
help (right up there with /way and /healdamage self in terms of
usefulness).

You can also check your datapad (which you've been doing) with Cntrl-D.
Select the 'Data' tab at the top, and then select the mission. The
information on the left will tell you what planet the destination is on.

Hope that helps, let us know.

For delivery missions, look for ones that have a very low reward -
rating 1 start (if you check the details, the start and end should both
be under 1km). This suggests that the mission is within the same city.
After you've done a few of those, you can then start taking a few of the
higher reward ones - examine the end points, and look for ones in the
same direction and similar distance - you then only have to buy 1 ticket
to complete them.
Once there, you can then repeat.

For missions, I've found the waypoint indicators are always orange.

For delivery missions, like artisan crafting missions, you normally have
a start and end location - the start is where you go first, and receive
an item, and the end is the person you have to take it to.

Yes, this was very helpful. Once I stated understanding the orange arrows
and not looking specifically for names,
I completed around 4 shorties! What a thrill. I am feeling much better now,
and have a little money too.

When I first began, I walked everywhere for 2 weeks and did not go off
planet - I didn't know why I would and I didn't have the cash. The mission
were giving me the points I needed to join the Rebel action and I was saving
to eventually buy a speeder (approx. cost 30k).

Well, I never bought that speeder. I was introduced to a player city, got a
free house, speeder and some cash. That really helped my out. It's my turn
now to repay this generous offer. I'm now a mayor of a city and I give the
same perks to new players joining.

I'd ask around - there are always player cities needing players and they can
help you.

I'm glad things are working out for you. OK, I'm going that make an
assumption here that planetary geography is the same on different servers
(if not, someone please say so). On the Corbantis "galaxy", the city of
Tyrena on Corellia is toward the west side of the map, and on or near the
southern sea coast. The only land south of it is an island 3-4k down. If I
recall correctly, a shuttle ticket to the island is about 120cr. The
best-paying (up to 1500cr +)crafting missions on the Tyrena Artisan terminal
have a delivery destination on that island. Take two of the top pay
missions and you can clear over 2500cr profit per round trip.
