[SOLVED] Newbie question about mic

Hi everyone, sorry for dumb question

I just bought a USB mic (Samson Go) and was wondering if it's normal for it to occasionally make weird noises in recordings? I've had a 'ping' sound and a 'crackle' sound happen so far but otherwise it's all good.

Anything to worry about? Thank you very much for any replies.

"Normal"...?

No. Yet such things do happen.

However, there are many factors involved. And "occasional" is subjective.

But overall, for quality recordings there should not be any weird noises, pings, and crackles.

Could be a loose connection, a defective audio device, component. Static electricity - may well vary in occurrence and magnitude.

If you are mixing audio, the noises could be coming from other sources.

Nothing to worry about overall unless the problem is truly getting in the way of your being able to work, perform, etc..

On the other hand, getting electrical shocks via mic, earphones/headsets, or other audio devices would be a worry.

Key is to pin down the source of the noises.

Start by trying the mic in/on another known working (without noise) computer.

Try another known working mic on your computer.

Determine, as a start, whether or not the weird noises, follow the mic or stay with your pc/audio setup.

Use the same testing process to test other audio components.
