Okay so I know nothing about overclocking. I've been doing research and still have nothing. Is there a program you guys use or is it straight BIOS settings?

I need to upgrade my MOBO so what would be a good mobo for overclokcing a Pentium D 820 CPU? I have the temps low and I really want to see how much I can overclock this baby. Also would this PSU be alright for it? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817103940

The rest or my rig is:
BFG 7800GTX
4x512MB Corsair XMS2 Memory

That PSU would be great for your overclock. There are 2 good ways for overclocking: 1) Use a program called "ClockGen", it can be found here: www.CPUID.org. You select your motherboard and than use a GUI to overclock. 2) Ye Old BIOS. The BIOS is the best way to overclock, since the GUI on ClockGen doesn't alter the BIOS it means it has to be re-overclocke each time Windows is restarted. There might be other programs, such as ASUS AI Booster, but those are Motherboard Specific.

Yeah you should be able to overclock it pretty good. I have a 920 d at 3.8 stable without changing the voltage. You should overclock from the bios. Its pretty simple. Just increase the fsb litlle by little. Also keep in mind that when you overclock your fsb your memory speed increses. What i did was decrease the system memory multiplier.

About overclocking... My Gigabyte K8N51GMF just fried. I decided to get an Asus A8N-VM CSM; I read that while it allows FSB increases, it doesn't allow manual voltage adjust and I couldn't find anything about desyncing HT, PCI-E and RAM. Since I have an X2 3800+ and a good ventirad, what can I hope to get from that?
