Hello all.

I have a new build with AMD A8-3850 Quad Core, ASUS F1A75-V PRO & 8 gigs of DDR3 onboard, and Sentey BX2-4291 v2.3 ATX Mid-Tower Case . This also has a 120GB SATA 3 Muskin SSD Drive. I am topping it off with win7 pro-64bit.

I ran into a problem i cant seem to find any topics on. The DVD drive i have is an older samsung SH-S202 DVD-RW, with IDE connectors. Since this board has no IDE connectors, i put a Via PCI-IDE controller card in, set it to cable select, and booted. The bios saw everything except the DVD drive. Tried setting it to master with no joy. Put the drive and controller in another PC and worked fine.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Did you need the DVD drive to install windows?

Could be that you have to install some drivers before it'd work.

My general suggestion would be to just wait until Monday to avoid any issues.

You could try setting the SATA to IDE mode if you have it on AHCI, but I wouldn't suggest that if you're installing Windows.

You could also try enabling/disabling Serial Port under Onboard devices, in case that's causing some kind of resource conflict.

Its a 5 or 6 year old PCI with a Via VT6410 Chipset on it, its an ATA133 controller.
I think I may be running into the dreaded "not supported" hardware issue. Putting a older piece of HW in a newer mobo.

Ive been waiting for a new SATA BluRay to get here, but that may be Monday.
