Hello all, I just built my first PC and have to say it was a learning experience, but the I have a feeling the learning isn't done. When I go to boot my PC it starts, runs for a second or two then shuts down for a few seconds and fires back up and stays on. However, the problem is that I am not getting any video output. THe machine runs and I'm not getting any beeping from the BIOS (I haven't even gotten to that set up, much less put an OS on it). The PC is hooked into my tv using a DVI-VGA adapter. When I use that on my tv I usually have to right click and change the display settings for it to show up. Could that be the problem? The only other thing I can think of that might be wrong is the RAM. It isn't in the compatibility list for my motherboard. The list has the Corsair Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 while I have the Corsair Model CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9R. Looking at the specs, it appears the only real difference is one is red and the other is not. Here are the links on newegg.

I'm going to borrow a friend's monitor tomorrow and see if it works. Failing that, I'll go thru the troubleshooting guide (thanks!). If it doesnt work by then, I'll be back here.

I figured out the problem, it was an errant spacer causing a short. I got the computer running but for some reason it has decided to not recognize my keyboard or mouse. Is that a usb problem?
