Hi people! Just wanted to share my advice, after all that's what forums are for :)

I have come to realize that when newegg dubs something as "free shipping", it ain't always free. One time I was gonna buy a couple of things, one of them being a Q6600 with free shipping. The total shipping came to around 22 USD. At the last sec I decided to not buy the Q6600 to wait for the price drop and so I removed it. To my surprise, I found that the shipping went from 22 usd to 17 usd, and the only thing I removed was the Q6600, which supposedly had free shipping. So basically I come to realize that it's a lot better buying free shipping stuff separately. Also when buying 3 or more things at once, shipping gets cut, but you knew that already 😉

Also another advice would be buying sensitive things like HD separately, cause HDs are OEMs and they have only the anti-static bag with the plastic bubble thingy thrown into a sea of foam peanuts. If you buy something heavy along with the HD, say a PSU, chances are the HD is gonna get damaged by the PSU (Shipping is rough...very rough).

So in conclusion, buy light things together (shipping cut) and buy free shipping things and sensitive things separately. :)

Good advice!
Actually thats how i break down my orders.
All drives (DVD & HDD) together, and they get sent to my work, not dumped on my doorstep.
Mobo, CPU, and/or CPU fan together;also sent to my work.
Once i got a PSU and Video card in one package, but it was no big deal. Cases should usually be ordered seperately.
I also think any "Free Shipping Orders" should be ordered seperately. They don't help to bring down shipping costs.
Accessories should always be thrown into any order. Most of the time shipping costs more than the product if shipped on their own.

wow, i never knew this.

when i ordered parts from newegg they sent all my stuff separately.

hdds, gpu, cpu, psu, lcd ( i was expecting that), case, etc. nothing i ordered never got shipped together for some reason.

I actually prefer them to put the parts together when they can because it reduces shipping. They are generally smart enough to realize when a power supply is going to beat up something like a video card but sometimes they goof. I have only just recently gotten anything from them that was damaged in shipping and it was not their fault but instead the fault of UPS....its a laptop that I am going to post about in here actually
