newegg.com purchase of AMD 64 3800+

I just got my packages today and looked through them to find that there was green fuzz on the inside of the AMD box(looking through the clear window @ the CPU). I opened it and there was the green "tray" smashed to pieces. The outside of the box was fine, the CPU looks ok except the edges look like they've been filed down. The heat sync and fan seemed fine also.

Just wondering if this is normal? I can post a pic if I need to.

I bought my A64 3200+ at a local shop, and had the same problem with the green tray being damaged, but the CPU was in perfect condition, and thst system is 100% stable.

If there is any damage to your CPU, I would definatly try and RMA it, because you don't want it not working properly.

If I was you I would return the CPU for another one. Even if it was just the packaging that was faulty, I'd feel a lot better with a new one.
