My friend has recently bought all of the parts for a new gaming PC. We have assembled it today and when he booted it up he began to install Windows 8, during the install, just after he entered the product key, the system shut off. Every time we then go to boot it up again, the fans go on, on all of the parts for about half a second then it shuts off. We think this might be an error with the CPU, but were not sure- maybe something like over wattage, if that can be done. All new parts and I have no clue why it isn't functioning, also is there anyway to find out if you have a disfunctioning cpu? There is a red LED that comes on under the cpu on my mobo🙁
The Specs:

CPU - AMD FX 8320
GPU - AMD r9 280
PSU - Corsair CX750M (750W)
MOBO - Asus M5A97 EVO 2.0
SSD Boot drive - Kingston 120gb
Ram - Kingston HyperX 8gb 1866
Thanks in advance.

Already posted this one twice but i need more help, it's so frustrating why all new components still won't function. I don't know how to update a bios either.

The mono light is a strong, solid green indicating no problems. I can only think that a component is broken because the first time it booted up absolutely fine. Also, the 24bit connector to the mobo doesn't completely clip in, i'd say there was about a half millimetre off from the notch that keeps it in place.

So, every time I use a screwdriver to start the system the fans on the cpu and graphics card begin to spin then cut out almost a second after. Is this a circuiting problem? First time builder and I need help ASAP!

Hi, can you get into your BIOS at all? Even without a display output try spamming the delete key to see if you eventually get a video output? What are you trying to boot off? The Windows 8 CD or the SSD? Remember the SSD has not got windows on it so booting off that is pointless.
