Hey guys!
So I build my first ever computer 4 weeks ago by getting help from you guys and some YouTube videos. I'm no expert when it comes to building and setting up a new rig, but I succeeded and it has been working perfectly.
Now yesterday, i was playing WOW (yea yea i know!) while watching a stream on Twitch and all of a sudden, the signal to my monitors drop, the lights in my keyboard goes out and i can't do anything. The ring around my power button on my case still lights up though, but I can't really do anything. I tried to press the restart button, but nothing happened, so at last i pressed the power button, and the system powered down. When i pressed again, the PC just started as if nothing happened.
The same thing happened today and now I'm getting nervous - since it's a brand new PC and all. Specs are:
CASE: Fractal Design Define R5 Black
MOBO: ASRock H97 Anniversary, Socket-1150
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790 3.6 Ghz
RAM: HyperX Fury DDR3 1866MHz 16GB Blue
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB PhysX CUDA
PSU: XFX ProSeries XXX Edition 650W
SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 120GB
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7,200 RPM
Now my PSU should be able to handle all of the above components with a pretty large buffer as I'm aware, so I'm guessing thats the case. I have used CPUID Hardware Monitor to test for temperatures and it shows around 77 Celcius in MOBO and CPU when rendering videos, my GPU is always lower than that, and the components should be good as long as we're not talking 85+ celcius, right?
Also considering that both "shut downs" was at times when i played WOW (not the most GPU-demanding game of all time) and watching a stream, I have been thinking that somethings wrong with the GPU maybe, but i have been streaming myself while running more graphic-demanding games so why would it shut down during a less demanding game?
Now I'm really lost here, as said - I'm not an expert at computers, so I don't really know what to look for. I have recently plugged a 2nd monitor to the system, and GeForce asked me to upgrade my driver last week so I did.
After the "shut down" today, I have checked the components cables and find that they're still plugged fully in. My GPU fans didn't start up at first when i booted after opening the case, but as soon as i started to render a video, they went on.
I know it's a long thread, but I wanted to give you guys as much information as possible, since I don't know a whole lot about computers. A quick note is that i have never entered BIOS on this rig - I don't know if I'm supposed to set anything up inside BIOS 😛
I hope you guys can help - if you need more information, let me know!
