Hello guys, For two days I have been slaving away trying to get this PC work as my "friend" who apparently had "experience" may have butchered the build. I discovered my case does not work and the only way I can boot it is through shorting the pwr switch. So after doing all that I try to plug in my monitor and I receive a message "cable not connected" After trying to mess around on some guides to make sure I had no problems but everything seemed fine. I asked my "friend" And he said he installed the graphics card fine. Don't know whether to re-install it. Do any of you guys know what is wrong?

These are the specs:

Cpu: AMD FX-6350 3.9GHz 6-Core Processor
Motherboard: MSI 970A-G43 ATX AM3+
Memory: Patriot Viper 3 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 280X 3GB Black Edition Double Dissipation
Case: BitFenix Comrade ATX
Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX
Optical Drive: Lite-On iHAS124-04 DVD/CD Writer

Thanks, please help as this build is literally driving me insane especially as it's my first build and my "friend" who had "experience" does not seem to have known what he was doing.

Solution
You're right about 1, your "exerienced" friend is a retard. OC FX-6300 is the same if not superior for less, your motherboard is really low end G43 is known for having really poor VRMs without heatsinks so Oc'ing your FX-6350 is likely to fry it.

Ehh, I really can't care anymore about that. I just wanna be able to play a game on it without having a problem as it seems everything which could of gone wrong has gone wrong...

Murphy's law, when it comes to electronics, it's always intact, when it comes to retards too.
