New pc, first time builder, everything has worked fine up to this point. I wanted to use voice while playing a game, so I downloaded teamspeak (first time using TS, though discord doesn't work either and it doesn't seem related to the specific program), and joined the server. I could hear him but he couldn't hear me. I eventually downloaded discord too and sure enough it's not picking up any microphone input there either.
What I've done: in realtek under options I told it to treat each input separately. I had the one jack enter as headphones and the other as a mic. Doing it this way did something that really confuses me- when I go to test my voice in teamspeak, I can hear myself.. like it looks like it should work- the mic activated button on TS's main area lights up even. But when I close the options menu it goes gray again and my mic doesn't work. Still not picked up this way in discord either. This is what really baffles me- clearly the mic and computer can work together somehow...
Another odd thing that I found looking for solutions: I have 6 different 'Digital Display Audio's in my playback tab under sound. AMD High Definition Audio Device, unplugged. Why? Googling net me very little there, just some other confused people trying to pin the blame on drivers maybe but not knowing. Googling about the test working and the mic not was pretty specific, but I found two instances of what I am experienced. Neither seemed to get resolved in the thread.
It's starting to hurt my brain. It seems like every time I try a new voice chat service there are new issues to be waded through. This one though, I really don't know where to start.
It's a dual plug headset, they are plugged into the right color jacks, I tried front and back jacks. I tried headphones/speakers + mic/line in for realtek. I tried not separating the inputs, but that seemed to not work whatsoever. Any ideas? ;/
