Newly built pc slow internet

Hey guys, me and my friend have pretty much finished building his pc but we have one problem. We installed the correct drivers off our motherboard drivers disk (asus p8z77v-lx) and hooked it up using an ethernet cable to our router, however we are getting an internet connection but it is very slow and wont load google. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Connect your pc directly to your modem and check your speeds that way. (bypass the router)

We fixed it by buying a wireless adapter for the pc

Try making sure everything is both updated on the hardware side and software side. Update the drivers, using the Device Manager, and patch the machine fully with Windows Updates. You might see even more dramatic improvement.
