Hello!

I just built a PC with the following parts:

MOBO: Gigabyte B360M DS3H / https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-B360M-DS3H-LGA1151-Motherboard/dp/B07BQ9SSH7/
Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB 2666MHz / https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-2666MHz-Desktop-Memory/dp/B0123ZC44Y/
Processor: i5 9400f / https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117981
GPU: RX 580 GTS XXX Edition / https://www.amazon.com/XFX-Radeon-1386MHz-Graphics-RX-580P8DFD6/dp/B06Y66K3XD/
PSU: EVGA BQ 500W 80 Plus Bronze / https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-Bronze-Warranty-Supply-100-BT-0450-K1/dp/B01N3OAFHD/

The problem I have is that after a couple of seconds of being turned on, it turns off by itself right before the bios screen (So there's no screen display) It doesn't turn back on again unless I hit the power switch.

Things I have tried:

  • Restarting it over and over
  • Plugging a keyboard and spamming DEL key to see if it goes to bios but nothing
  • Reseated the rams
  • Testing with only one ram stick, tried also in different channels (And also with and without GPU)
  • Reseated the processor
  • Testing without GPU (This procesor doesn't have graphics, but it's to see if it stays on)
  • Testing with no SSD/HDD plugged in
  • Cleared CMOS
The Mobo doesn't seem to have a debug LED to let me know what is going on either and in the box it has the sticker that says 'Optimized for Intel 9000 Processors'

Does anyone have an idea of what the hell is happening and what should I do next?

Thank you!

Solution
Socket looks ok, Now try this: install CPU, CPU cooler, single RAM and start the board. If still same issue, then I would RMA board, CPU and power supply.

Thank you both for the replies

Could be - something is shorting out.
Try starting your pc outside of pc case.

Also your board may require BIOS update before supporting 9400F.

I just started it outside of the case, single ram and nothing else it still turns off after a couple of seconds so the same... It's weird because the box has a sticker that says that it should work with 9gen... (And since i'm not from US finding a 8gen processor here it's gonna be nearly impossible so I will basically need to buy another mobo)

Does the heatsink get hot? Make sure that it is correctly installed, to rule out a CPU heating issue.

I'm sure that the cooler is correctly installed, double checked but it doesn't get enough time to heat up since it only lasts a couple of seconds on.

Already tried that, even with different ram and in different channels. Sadly I can't RMA stuff as I live in Venezuela, I'm gonna go around checking if some shop has a 8th gen cpu and see if they can check the current BIOS version and hopefully (if it works) get it updated.
