I just finished my PC and turned it on, all the LEDs turned on then a few seconds later turned off, same with the fans and they continue to do this unless I turn off the power supply, then it starts again if I hit my cases power button. I recorded the problem (sorry about the loud background noise) https://youtu.be/N_mINIXl0pA. The power/reset button on the motherboard stays on, and I get no video. When I was building I put the CPU in wrong and almost closed it (half way on one of the pins that goes down) but I realised and put it in correctly, could this be why? Please help! Here's my part list: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/cmhHhq
Thanks

Solution
Well damage to the CPU is possible from your description and would have to be inspected for possible bent pins in the socket.
Did you update your Bios as some Intel X99 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Broadwell-E CPUs.

Unfortunately Toxic_Cobra if you feel you may have damaged the CPU socket, the only way to tell is to inspect the MB socket to see if you have bent any pins.
If you have then not all is lost. Inspect with a magnifier the alignment and if any pins are bent down.
If any are bent then use a toothpick and very carefully lift the bent pins or realign them.
Inspect the socket first before you RMA or ship as they would void your Warranty if damage to the Socket has occurred.

If you find bent pins and fix them, Don't be in haste to reassemble your system. Benchtest first to check all is OK.

There are a number of things that can cause what is happening in your Video and bent pins is one.
Mismatched DIMMs is another common cause however I checked and yours are listed on the QVL.

Is your Bios up to date and have you tried clearing your CMOS.? (Clear CMOS is on rear IO panel)
Are any Debug led lights coming on and staying on the MB. (refer to your manual if unsure)
You may have to make changes in Bios if you can get there.

could you inspect it with a picture? I really don't know what i'm looking for, I've wanted to build a computer since February last year and did a ton of research and just assumed id be good at putting it together because how many videos I've seen on it... wrong.

My mobo is x99a and it came out when the haswell-e chipset came out (im assuming x99a means it was factory updated, but most the reviews said theirs were already updated when they got it)
Thanks again, I really hope i can fix it soon and not have to go through the long return/exchange process

It doesn't appear that you have bent pins however it is difficult to tell. All pins should be uniformly the same when viewed at differing angles.
As you have your system apart in benchtest mode, keep it that way till the issue is resolved.

Check all cables from PSU to Mb are correct and working OK.

Is your Monitor working correctly and hooked up to the correct port.?

Do you have any of these lights come on and stay on.?

I have a msi gaming pro x99a motherboard, where would these lights be? .

My Dell Studio does that when I accidentally drop the CPU. On the Dell motherboard it powers on for a second or two then shuts down while on the ASUS motherboard it turns ON few seconds then shuts off with power LED on then turns on again and pretty much just like your issue. And the CPU have no bent pins or any scratches or what so ever. You might want to try another CPU and see if that causes the problem.

Sorry it took so long for me to respond, a rat chewed our internet cables and time warner takes forever to send someone out. With no internet, I tried everything on my computer and found out the ram slots weren't working so i moved my ram over and it worked, however I have 16gb (4x4) of ram and only 4gb of ram is showing up, are the ram slots a lost cause and should I exchange the mobo or is there a way to fix it?
Thanks!

Check the slots for contamination and blow them out with compressed air from a canister. Only do this with PSU turned off.
Does you Qcode readout stop anywhere between 50-55 during Post cycle.?
Check all your DIMMs with MemTest86+ run from a USB stick. You can also try to switch DIMMs, Just use one at a time to see if any are failing and try one that you know works in each slot.
If this proves fruitless then RMA the MB.

I tried that but failed and ended up getting an exchange (which they allowed) and i just the new one in today, but now neither of the display ports are working and its only detecting 3 ram slots in use even though i have 16gb (4x4) do you think this is my ram or my motherboard? im using hdmi right now even though my monitor is 144hz on display port and only 60 on hdmi, do you think this could be my cable? is it possibly my motherboard? i assumed it was my graphics card, but before i turned in my computer display port was working fine. Should i start another thread?
