Help please.

My son built a pc from scratch. He's into gaming and he wanted to wall mount the thing and have all the cool lights and tubing and water cooling, etc.

He has a thermaltake case.
An Asus Prime x570 Pro Series MB
32 GB GSkill Trident Z Ram DDR4
CPU is a AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
GPU is a Nvidia 3080
Power supply is a Corsair RM850
A Corsair Pump and waterblocks
Lian Case Fans.
NVME storage: WDC 1 TB and a Samsung SSD 970 EVO 1 TB
Windows 10 Home
Razer Gaming Mouse

Here's the problem.

Had to reinstall windows and everything. Didn't want to boot with the old pc's stuff on there.

This process I'm about to mention I've had to do multiple times now.

Install fresh windows - Windows 10 Home
install updates

The Nvidia 3080 driver has a flag on it in device manager
Try to install Nvidia 3080 driver

Everything craps out. Windows repair can't fix. Won't boot.
What is it about the Nvidia 3080 that is causing so many problems and how do I get around this? Any suggestions. I'm going crazy.

Additional Info - The error on the driver before I try to install a new one is always
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43).
