Newly Built System Won't Turn On

I purchased a bundle from newegg, adding only a blu-ray/dvd drive to the bundle. It is completely dead, doesn't even twitch when I hold down the power button, no LEDs anywhere. Tested the PSU on another rig, and the PSU is fine. I don't know what the problem is, could it be a compatibility issue? I've already gone through the 21 steps and have scoured many forums for possible solutions. Thanks in advanced.

Has it turned on at all or has it been dead since you first built it? If you're sure the power supply is good, my next step would be to check your motherboard's manual (in the book or online) and check out the pinout for where the power button cable goes.

It's been dead since I first built it, and I'm positive the power supply works. I double checked the front panel cables to motherboard, and they match up with the labels on the mobo itself as well as the manual. I've also switched around the power and reset cables to see if it was just a power button problem, but using the reset button doesn't work either.

Is it plugged into a surge protector? I've seen more than once that the surge protector went bad and plugging the PC directly into the wall fixed the problem.

It's strange the way you're talking; that there's no fans, hard drive spin-ups or anything going on. Have you tried removing all components (PCI cards, memory, etc...) to see if that affects it?

Standard debugging is to pull all the part off, one at a time, until the bios starts working. Start by pulling the video and all sata connectors. Then pull memory. See if you can get the fans to power up.

gigabyte should have a step by step trouble shooting that you should follow until you get the MB to post. If the MB is dead with nothing installed and when MB removed from case and placed on non-conducting mat then the MB is bad. Did your MB come with a manual with a troubleshooting chapter and step by step instructions ?

possible problems range from shorting the MB on the case or screw, a slightly ajar or defective pcie card or memory dimm, a dead drive, the cpu fan power not attached, etc. all these can keep MB from giving power to fans and peripherals.

How does the MB communicate with you when there is no video? It uses a system of BEEP CODES that are unique to each bios provider. Google your MB to find out the beep codes for your MB. (If you hear a beep from the MB you are making great progress over the current "nothing happens" state.
