Newly installed i7-3770k running and booting slower than my old xeon processor

I have just replaced my Xeon® Processor E3-1230 8M Cache, 3.20 GHz with a Intel Core i7-3770K Quad-Core Processor 3.5 GHz 8 MB Cache LGA 1155. Everything seems to be running slower though and booting up takes longer than when I had my xeon. Any ideas on what is causing it to run slower?

Did you check to see if the motherboard support the new processor?

Yes motherboard supports both the xeon and i7 as they are both lga 1155. I have updated the bios too.
