I have a NexStar 3 enclosure with a Seagate 160 GB drive inside. I had no indication of disk problems, but it just suddenly shut down and now will not boot. My first indication of a problem was when Windows 7 no longer recognized it as a USB device. I turned the enclosure off and then back on. The activity light flashed on/off for about 30 seconds and I could hear disk activity. Then the light flashed on solid for just a couple of seconds and then went dark and there was not indication of any activity. I tried putting the drive on a different computer, but the symptoms are the same; it will not boot up so it can be detected by Windows. Since it seems like this is a power supply or enclosure problem rather than the disk itself (no disk errors) I am wondering whether there is a way to diagnose and fix it without losing all of my data.
