Hi,

Does anyone know if Nvidia's next generation GT300 cards will run on the same boards as the Q9xxx and/or i7 boards?

Will a completely new board be needed?

Well, even if PCI-E 3.0 (or something to that effect) is coming out with the new cards, it will still run on PCI-E 2.0 or even 1.0 and 1.1.
So no, you wont need a new mobo. Only if you want to upgrade to DDR3.

Yes, but if it is PCIE 3.0, won't you be gimping your GTX 380 (or whatever) big time by using PCIE 2.0 board?

Also, is there any indication so far whether PCIE3.0 will be used for GT300? ... i tried googling and just dont seem to be able to find any of this info.

I can't imagine seeing pcix 3.0 for a little while, maybe late 2010.

And no, you won't be gimping it. Other than the high end 295s even pci1.0 won't hold back modern cards any more than a couple percent. We will be well into the GT500 series before pcix 2 is made totally useless.
