Hi guys,

I just recently assembled my very first rig. I apologize in advance since it's a very cheap rig. Original intention was to replace my laptop since I fried my GPU. Now I use this to practice my modding skills and cheap custom water cooling. By the way, I'm from the Philippines and the prices may vary but somewhat similar.

Specs:
Processor: AMD TRINITY A6 5400K 3.8GHZ (dual core) with integrated Radeon HD 7540D
Motherboard: MSi FM2 A55M-E33
HDD: 500GB Seagate
Case: Trendsonic/Frontier Iris
RAM: Kingston HyperX blu 1x4GB DDR3 1600Mhz
PSU: "Generic" 650w that came with the case
Monitor: 19" AOC LED wide

Now my questions are:

*Should I get a better case? The recently released(is it really just recent??) Cooler Master 690III bundled with Cooler Master Seidon 120V closed-loop water cooler is priced at U$120. And I hate to pass this promo(?) ever since I was ditched by the Cooler Master Scout 2 which was priced at U$56 like 2 months ago.

*Should I get a better PSU? The PSU's I'm looking right now are the Corsair VS450w, priced at U$40 brand new. And a 2nd hand SilverStone Strider Plus SST-ST50F-P fully modular 80+ bronze which just came from RMA and only been used for a week, it's priced at U$67 but I can perhaps still haggle.

*Should I get a discrete GPU? I want one that's a bang for a buck and is future-proof. I don't know how to choose.

*Should I upgrade my Monitor? Some 24" full HD wide LED are up for trade but I need to add like U$67-77.

I really don't like the Frontier Iris case but I was rushing to get my setup with low budget, I had to get a cheap one. Seriously, I don't like the case. I'm eyeing on the Cooler Master Scout 2 which is now priced at U$108, The Cooler Master 690III bundle priced at U$120 and the Fractal Design Arc Mini R2 which will be estimated to cost around U$110(not confirmed since it's not here yet and they will be maybe on the 2nd week of February). Or any other cheaper good looking cases you can suggest so I can get both Case and PSU at the same time.

My budget for now is U$122.
I can't get them all at once so I need to buy them separately.

In which order should I grab them?
Case>PSU>GPU>Monitor Upgrade?
PSU>GPU>Monitor Upgrade>Case?

Thanks,
Adrian

Solution
get psu from corsair 430w is only 20$ and is a 80+ certified psu, get another 4 gb ram same with the one you already have and give it a go with games, if you are not satisfied with the performance on games i would sugest you to buy a r9 270 video card, it will blow you away and is around 180$ or if you want really cheap and still enough HD 7790 it gets the job done very well for around 100$

@Tzn

That sounds good. I've been getting recommendations to get an HD7790.
But I'm really not satisfied with my Casing.

Do you mean the R9 270X? I'm not familiar with this, I just looked it up on our stores price lists. It looks promising though but it's really expensive at the moment.

SAPPHIRE R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 256BIT 8,900php = 196.822 USD
SAPPHIRE VX R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 9,750php = 215.633 USD
MSI AMD R9 270X 2gb ddr5 256bit 12,420php = 274.686 USD
Asus AMD R9 270X Top 2gb ddr5 12,420php = 274.686 USD
MSI Radeo R9 270X 2GB DDR5 256Bit 11,900php = 263.052 USD

For future reference which should I get? I mean from which brand?
And for Sapphire, what's the VX?

I'm not sure I'll be getting a GPU first since I have a limited budget and I only have U$111-122. If I save up and get a GPU first, I think my generic PSU would fry. However, within my budget range I can get a SAPPHIRE HD7770 1GB DDR5 128BIT GHZ-EDITION for U$104.

I keep researching on GPU's and my heart still aches for my somewhat generic casing. LOL!

no do not get the X version just plain R9 270. X version is overclocked 270 and with a 5%more performance and more power consumption and you pay a lot more just for nothing. stick with r9 270. asus or saphire
