In what way do you feel your pc is lacking?

I might suggest buying a second monitor.
Two monitors are most useful for desktop work.
Possibly a larger/wider monitor would give you more immersive gaming.

I would say, yes, getting a GPU that is either a 1000 series or a 2000 series from Nvidia would be a good idea, though RTX3000 is around the corner, so unless you're willing to get a second hand GPU, I'd suggest waiting.
I ask because checking Tom's GPU hierarchy, they show the 1080 GTX ONE level above the 980 TI. And they say that you should jump TWO levels for upgrades. I didn't know if that would be noticeable. Thanks

I was just looking for the weakest component to upgrade. I'd like to try out some VR gaming.
