Accidentally broke the wifi pin on my nexus 7 when fixing charging issues, and now no wifi signal unless I'm really close to my router. I tried soldiering the pin back on, but it just made things worse and the rest of the pin that was still attached fell off leaving just a tiny dot of contact left. I managed to improve wifi signal a little by taping a folded piece foil where the pin was. I wonder if drawing a antenna on the motherboard with a conductive pen would work?

You mean the connector part on pcb or the cable?
It has a spring type spring terminals that's on the PCB/motherboard. Their is no cable, the antenna is built into the batter cover/back and connects to the motherboard via spring terminals.

The little gold pad that's circled red in the picture, mine fell off when I tried to solder it back together so now their is just a gold dot where the pad was.

Oooooooooooooooooh.
If you solder then you need like 5W soldeirng iron, anything more than that its overkill, even 5W is overkill (Its called usb soldering iron?).
You could solder an AWG 30 wire or try to "Find" an spring and solder it (Soldering spring may be harder i think),

Dunno it should be an easy job, I have soldered an micro usb port with only soldering iron.

Sorry I tought it was connection type plug that I have on A5 2016.
