Nexus 7 as a monitor for my Windows 8.1

I recently cracked the screen on my laptop and have been plugging it in to my TV to use that as the monitor.

I have a Nexus 7 and want to use that the same way. I know about Screenslider but it says that it doesn't work on Windows 8. Any ideas?

One possibility would be to use a remote-desktop client on the N7... but you would need a mouse and keyboard for the N7 for that and would not be able to use things that require local login like 3D games/apps.
