Nexus 7 Stuck on "Google" Screen - Fix or Data Recovery?

Hey,

My Nexus 7 was becoming overrun with popups saying "Unfortunately Google Play Services has stopped working." I Forced Stop Google Play Services and restarted the tablet. Since then it has been stuck on the Google pre-boot screen. That was a week ago and I've tried tapping the back of it as forums suggest. It is not rooted or anything.

I can access the recovery screen (Power + Vol Down), and in this mode when I connect it to my PC, my PC recognises it and installed drivers etc. But from there nothing shows up. Also I don't think I can run ADP or anything as I can't access my settings/developer options on the tablet, which I think are needed?

Can you PLEASE help me at least get the data recovered? I have some stuff on there I really wasn't expecting to lose so suddenly as it was working fine up until last week

From recovery mode clear dalvik cache and cache partition. This wont effect your data but first boot takes some time, around 10 minutes.

Thank you for your reply.

Whenever I choose "Recovery Mode" - it starts up and the Google boot screen shows, but again, freezes on this screen

Connect to pc
Shut down nexus 7
Hold volume down and power
At the next screen, press up until it says recovery mode
Press power
You then get the Android with red exclamation
Press power, hold it and then press volume up
This should give the recovery menu.
Result!

Did this helped to get in recovery mode?

Thanks a lot for your idea. Got my hopes up!
Unfortunately it didn't work. However was I missing a step because I don't know what "from xda" means, unless that's just where the advice came from?
Regardless, whenever I plug the tablet into my computer all I hear is the USB device being recognised. It doesn't show up on My Computer or anything.
When I followed your solution, and got to the "press power" step, the tablet just started up as normal, Google screen....and stuck there as usual
