NFSU: Interesting wheel bug

Hi everyone,

I have NFSU and I have encountered an interesting bug - I
drive with a Microsoft sidewinder precision racing wheel and
when I first installed the game, everything worked fine.

Now however, I have to unplug the USB wheel and then plug it
back in again, each time I load windows, in order for the game
to recognise it - This is really annoying as it also means
that I have to setup the wheel controls in NFSU again as well.
If I exit the game and go back into it without restarting
windows everything is fine.

I know my housemate has (grrr) installed a few things on this
computer which I suspect might have caused the problem - I
know he has installed at least one other game and also
Microsoft Office 2000.

Does anyone know how I can get the wheel to work properly
every time without messing about?

Regards

I had the same problem with a MS Sidewinder joystick. I tried uninstalling
the drivers and software that came with it, then re-installing it. That
worked for a while, then the same problem re-surfaced. Then I bought Norton
Sytem Works, ran Windoctor, and after it found and corrected all the
problems with Windows, the stick worked fine. This is on an XP Home machine.
Good luck!

Hmm, Ok, I might have a play with things - it's not *too* big
an issue though, as long as I remember to unplug and plug in
the wheel before I play :) I'll let you know if I can find
something definate about it.

NFSU isn't very smart about controllers or game ports.
If you're not using the game port, disable it. If you have
multiple USB controllers installed, this can confuse NFSU
as well.
