shoptherightway.com is running a really great deal on a lexmark printer
that lists for 129.99 and they are selling it for like 45.00. It seems
like a sweet deal and I know the purchasing is secure. (they use
paypal) It might be worth checking out. They also have a bunch of nice
deals on electronics and ink cartridges too.

Be very careful... many of these deals on cheapish referb printers
don't include ink. $32 for the black, $20 for the low yield #27 150p
color cart.

Sounds like they are too cheap to get a merchent account to me. I'm
all for cottage industry, more than happy to support cottage industry,
but I would never use "it's secure 'cause it's paypal" as a marketing
pitch. Nor would I reccomend buying from anyone who uses usenet spam
marketing. 42 messages from this person today all "visit our website".
I know who's going to make an abuse report today.

I know many with the printer. 15 ml of ink there and abouts for the
#16 black... works out to be over $8000/gal... or about $32 each which
is about the same cost as HP black carts but 1/2 the volume and 1/2 the
yield. But hey if you want to spend 8.2c/page feel free.

These are the printers where it's in your best interest to buy
something else that comes with ink at $100, as anyone who prints more
than 3 reams of paper a year is going to spend more in ink than it
would cost to replace the printer and print the same amount. Unless
there is a decent resource for referbished carts. But in it's defence
it's got an ok scanner, somewhat decent software that's easy to use,
while the printer doesn't have a fax modem on board your PC's fax modem
is more than adquate to do the job. If you need a cheepo scanner and
got the room and never buy ink for this printer you could do worse.

$45? not worth it. You can e-bay one for a buck with $35 shipping
http://search.ebay.com/x1185_W0QQfkrZ1QQfromZR8
This is assuming you really want one... chances are you don't. Their
super high cost per page vs their relativly low print quality make them
a less than ideal choice for anyone who prints more than 100 pages a
month. I would reccomend one to the terminaly ill who only have less
than a year to live and just need to print off their last will and
testiment, scan in their family photos, but that would be too mean to
the person running their estate sale.

This is an inkjet. This is that free printer. This is the same free
printer that is branded by dell and given away. This is the printer
when you see it you tell the owner it would cost less to buy a new
printer than ink. This is the printer that can't hardly be sold on
e-bay for a penny.

Which printer is this... if it's an inkjet, I would be wary both of
quality and cost of maintaining the ink.

Here in Canada, at least, many Lexmark inkjet printers are given away
with purchases of just about any computer or peripheral. Soon I expect
they will come with candy bar purchases ;-)

If you mean the software that comes with their all in ones has a nice
layout so that even a over 60 person with their first dell could e-mail
pics of their grand kids to their friends, this is very true. I have
to admit that lexmark has this.

And lexmark has some good products. Some of their lasers are top
notch. Just people end up looking at prices.... see that lexmark
offers the most features for the least bucks and don't take into
account the cost of consumables which are astronomical and in some
cases 1/3 the price of gold or more. You could say this about many sub
$100 printers but lexmarks tend to be the worst.

Ummm, I was buying generic Atra plus replacements. I should still have
a 36 pack left. Most of the spiffy new razors don't have generic
replacements but have a look at your supermarket. While not your quad
blade polorizing action those atra aftermarket razors did the trick.
When i'm not using electric or some mail order free razor.

Hardly a new strategy, but frugal shoppers can pick something that
doesn't cost an arm and a leg, or 1/3 the price of gold to print.

Great! I have bad vision and nic my self all the time. A face
clogging razor is just what I need... so what if it affects my printing
to tissue paper.

Hardly a new strategy. 60 years ago they gave away razors, knowing that
they were signing up men for a lifetime of buying blades. Come to think
of it, they still do if you catch the right coupon in the newspaper.
Nobody can tell me that these triple-blade refills are worth anywhere near
what they charge for them. And you can't buy generic replacements either.

They did it a lot less than 60 years ago, because that was long before
my time, and I recall the free razors as a shaving man.

In Canada you can buy generic triple edged razor replacements. I
suspect they may be made by the same company that makes the branded
versions, and sold under generic labeling for a small discount versus
the brand named versions. The die/mould numbers even look the same.

I think they should come with toilet paper so they can be flushed down
with the paper.

Lets see if we can translate your childish jibberish. Oh yes, I think I
got it.
"I never owned a Lexmark printer and know nothing about them".
Right!

They currently come with cartridges, but no cables, as I recall. But
they are still requiring slightly larger purchases than candy bars to
get the printer.
