I have had an issue with bad ping/latency at night for about the past 2-3 months. It seems my ISP hasn't been able to figure out what the problem is. At 7pm-12 my ping is going really high. From like 40ms (testing to a place near me) to 300ms at the same test area.
I've done the normal troubleshooting methods, test direct connected to the modem, check for viruses, etc. It is still bad ping at nights. I've asked other people on the service, they do not have this issue, so it is not an over-servicing issue. Also, a technician has came out and checked almost everything he could think of, even replacing the cable line. It seemed to fix it some, but not completely.
Now the internet will be fine, till about 8pm, but then bad again at 9-9:30, then normal till 11, then back to 200-300ping till 12. After 12, it goes normal, until the next day at 8pm or so.
My Modem signals are listed below:
Downstream: -1 dBmV
Signal to Noise Ratio: 34 dB
Upstream: 46 dBmV
From what I have researched, these levels are fine. The Downstream, is even 0 some times, which is suppose to be really good.
I have researched every single event, in the Event Log and nothing major there, it all seems to be in the norm.
So my T.L.D.R form question is... If it isn't too many on the service at nights, modem signal, or any repeater/node issues they could find. What is it?
It only happening at set times of the nights, even when direct connected, points to an issue with their equipment, but I am clueless at this point to what it is.
Has anyone had an issue like this before? Or, does anyone have a clue to what it is, so I can contact them with any suggestions?
Thanks for reading, and to anyone that helps.
