Can any one suggest where I can download drivers for a nikon cool scan 3 so i can run it on xp or vista please

I assume you've tried Nikon so you might have a look at Driverguide, but it's not free anymore.

Better perhaps to try Vuescan or Silverfast programs (free trials).
