This is actually very old news: the "new" macbook pro described here was announced and shipping February 26, 2008!

are they talking about video memory? 256 MB ram in a MBP would be laughable.

yes, they are trying to say video memory. The MBP comes standard with 2GB RAM.

that is Video RAM on the 8600M

and the MPB come with 2Gigs of RAM standard.
