I'm sorry, I didn't buy a 60" TV to look at a tablet. As a game controller, it looks bulky and uncomfortable. It's too bad, I like Nintendo exclusives, but it looks like I'll be skipping this generation.

Not sure if that extra screen is something anyone wants to look at while playing a FPS. As stated its behind technologically. And even with a second screen the attention is away from the TV you spent 5x more for to play games on, not a tablet. For now no one knows if it will be a success or a flop since there's still two months before its release. I predict a sales with the hardcore fans, as for the casuals that nintendo wii console they bought is covered in dust, while the mobile phone has taken over casuals. So it will sell but not in High numbers. But what i do know is the Wii sold like crazy, so maybe I'm wrong. Heck i got a itch for nintendo already.....(sarcasm)

looks like it will have some good launch titles. however Im not even going to consider buying one until I try it first. having a different view on your tablet and on your tv is imo very stupid, from the looks of that screenshot. a map or some other widget would be fine but not gameplay. and the lack of a multitouch screen is a very bad thing for the evolution of this console. 2 years from now developers will be complaining about the lack of multitouch. the price is right, but Id have to play some games on it first to see if its worth the money.

Weak launch game lineup. I'm willing to give the hardware a chance, but there's simply not enough compelling software to get me to buy. Most of the games in the launch lineup are ports or shovelware. I do really like my Wii so I'll be paying attention. Maybe if they come out with an epic Mario game, a new Zelda game without all the backtracking of Skyward Sword, and a new Smash Bros or Mario Kart then I might get excited. I'd also like to see some new IP aimed at mature gamers. Software is very very important.

I'm really thinking on getting the Wii U on day 1.

The "TVii" just seems too cool, hahaha.

Besides, it has backwards compatibility and I'm sure as hell want to play the old Wii goodies.

Gaming capabilities don't matter that much to me, since i'm a PC gamer at heart, but the wii is fun to play in parties, haha.

Cheers!

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Personally I don't want to buy any more consoles. But I wonder how strong the market is for everyone else to buy. I'm still not anywhere near done playing Wii games and I have a lot of them.

I feel that my opinion is off on a huge tangent though since I lost most interest in games so that's why I wonder how well this will sell according to other people's trends.

Nintendo has always been more about the game play than the latest fps, and the new controller seems to open up some nice possibilites, but I'd like to test it first. Too bad I don't have extra money this year.

I wonder if the backward compatibility will make the old Wii games up-convert to HD? And not just crappily either.... more like what the Dolphin emulator does? If that's the case, then that feature will certainly help at least me to buy one.

I never owned, or played on a Wii, AMA!
I have however, played over 5,000 games, dating since original Namco / Nintendo coinops, Amiga, PC since 8088, and Apple IIe.
I for one, am excited to get the WiiU, the Tablet will be for my wife to move the ducks on screen, and I will shoot those quacks clear from out of the sky! There will be a DUCK HUNT U, RIGHT NINTENDO? Have you forgotten your roots? What is this COD CRAP??? leave that to the failing Microsoft arena.

I do wish Nintendo luck. I do plan on buying a Wii U at some point, but not anytime close to launch. I'll wait for a decent library to build and see if they really deliver on good games. That's always been the route I've taken even if I've always ended up getting each console eventually. Hoping that the console does have some good games because I want to play Bayonetta 2, but I'm buying a console for $300 or more just to play one or two games.

I just don't get it... why not make an android /iphone / win8 app that connects to your console via wifi, drop the price by $50 and use a comfortable controller instead of this goofy tablet controller hybrid ?

All these comments and no one noticed that the article title says "Wii" Not Wii U". I guess Nintendo is re-releasing the "Wii" for the first time twice.

Why does the activision moron make the statement about ''dishing out two separate screens at once'' like its not done with the current consoles with split-screen, and then he even goes on to reference split-screen on the WiiU? Sending the other screen to a tiny tv is no technological marvel. Hopefully the extra graphical horsepower wont be continuosly wasted on the touch controller.

I'm buying one. It will probably fall somewhere between "awesome" and "pretty cool" but at least I know for sure it won't be a piece of shit. I mean, Nintendo put a lot of thought into the Wii U and so I'm confident it will be pretty sweet.

The line up of games looks really good. Can't wait for the new Mario Bros. I think New Super Mario Bros was one of the funnest games I've ever played (and continue to play). The tablet controller doesn't look that great, but it may surprise us all in the "fun" factor. Guess we will see.

Did you know that a controller in port 2 could control the ducks in single duck mode?
